Background
Robert Marston Fannéy was born and raised in Southeastern Virginia. He overcame early learning disabilities to become a voracious reader and lover of literature, reading books well beyond his age and becoming inspired to write his own. He pursued this dream by writing and reading his way through an English major, expanding his horizons as editor of his college literary magazine and organizer of the school's visiting-authors program, which brought in famous writers from around the country. As a writer and editor for several Washington, D.C. area multinational publishing companies, he wrote or contributed to over 40 articles and books, and finally left his work there to pursue his work with Luthiel's Song full time. His experience in the Army National Guard (where he was Soldier of the Year in Virginia) and as a police officer gave him a sense of discipline and work ethic which allowed him to turn his publishing knowledge into action and launch his imaginative debut fantasy novel into surprising success, by starting his own small publishing company with a hand-picked team of book designers, artists, and editors. Well into its fifth printing, Luthiel's Song, the first book of a planned seven, has sold an amazing 5,000 copies (90% of all self-published books never sell five hundred), and with a brand-new shipment of 2,000 on its way, there are soon to be 7,000 copies in print, with the promise of many more to come. The book has for over a year averaged in the top 98% in sales of all books sold on Amazon. He tours the East Coast making energetic and highly inspirational presentations to cheering middle and high school students, many of whom become Luthiel fans, and fans of the author.
Robert and his novel have become a kind of Internet phenomenon, something not uncommon to see for rock bands and viral videos but which is unprecedented for an author. His "Fantasy Scribbler" profile is the number one author profile on MySpace (probably the most popular site on the Internet), and his "Luthiel's Fantasy" interest group is consistently in the top ten out of 40,000 of the most-popular entertainment groups on MySpace. His author profile has over 70,000 "friends," each and every one of which was invited personally by Robert, and with whom he regulary corresponds. This amazing grassroots campaign, which he has christened his "Word of Mouse" campaign, is responsible for a great deal of his success to date.
